The Yamaha GC2 is a 5'8" (173 cm) salon grand piano that represents the "sweet spot" in Yamaha's grand piano lineup. It inherits the advanced scale design, duplex scaling, and rich tonal character of the highly coveted, conservatory-level Yamaha C2 grand, but utilizes cost-saving advantages in materials and production to make it much more affordable for homes and private studios
Unlike the entry-level GB1K (which is built in other global facilities), the Yamaha GC2 is manufactured in Japan at Yamaha's premier facility in Hamamatsu
The 5'8" Tonal "Sweet Spot": At 173 cm in length, the GC2 offers significantly longer bass strings and a larger solid spruce soundboard than the GB1K (5'0") or GC1 (5'3"). This extra depth yields a vastly richer bass response, superior resonance, and greater dynamic projection
Duplex Scaling: Taken directly from the premium Conservatory series, duplex scaling allows the un-struck portions of the strings to vibrate sympathetically. This adds a layer of brilliant harmonics, extra clarity, and a singing quality to the treble register
Tone Collector System: The GC2 features Yamaha's wood-and-metal tone collector system, which couples the back posts directly to the iron frame. This efficiently transfers string vibrations throughout the entire body of the piano for enhanced sustai
True Sostenuto Pedal: Unlike smaller baby grands that use a bass-sustain pedal, the GC2 features a true 3-pedal grand lyric layout with a center Sostenuto pedal (alongside Damper and Shift/Soft), meeting the technical demands of advanced classical repertoire
Made in Japan & V-Pro Plate: The V-Pro vacuum process frame is forged in Japan to withstand over 20 tons of tension. Combined with Japanese-crafted premium hammer felt, the GC2 delivers excellent tuning stability and structural longevity
