UX3 IS ONE OF MOST COST-EFFECIVE YAMAHA "X" SERIES PERFORMANCE MODEL

The Yamaha UX3 is a highly sought-after, premium 52-inch (131 cm) professional studio upright piano manufactured by Yamaha between 1982 and 1988.

Handcrafted exclusively at Yamaha's flagship factory in Hamamatsu, Japan, the UX3 was designed as a conservatory-grade, upgraded alternative to the industry-standard Yamaha U3. It belongs to Yamaha's legendary "X Series" (or UX Series)

    • Proprietary X-Brace Back Frame: The defining structural signature of the UX3 is the massive X-shaped wooden post configuration reinforcing the back of the piano. While a standard U3 utilizes vertical, parallel back posts, the radial X-frame distributes over 20 tons of string tension far more evenly. This immense structural rigidity provides incredible structural stability and superior tuning stability.
    • Curved Bass Bridge & Extended Bass Strings: By modifying the internal scale design with a curved bass bridge layout, Yamaha managed to fit noticeably longer bass strings inside the UX3 than what is found in a standard U3. This extra string length produces a deep, thunderous bass register that punches far above its physical footprint, rivaling the sonic presence of a compact grand piano.
    • Front Panel Sound Escape Vents: The front casing features a distinct cabinet design with built-in tone escape slits behind the music desk. Instead of sealing the sound completely inside the wooden box, these escape vents allow acoustic resonance to project directly out toward the performer, simulating the immediate listening experience of playing a grand piano.
    • Upgraded Material Selection: As a luxury model, the UX3 was constructed using higher-tier, straight-grained solid spruce for its soundboard, premium mahogany-core hammers wrapped in dense under-felt, and high-tensile concert-grade wire. This allows it to throw a warmer, richer, and less brittle tone than standard vintage U3 models.
