UX50BL IS ONE OF THE TOP MODEL OF ALL YAMAHA UPRIGHT PIANOS

 

The Yamaha UX50Bl (or UX50BL) represents the absolute pinnacle of Yamaha's 52-inch (131 cm) "X-Brace" professional upright pianos. Manufactured exclusively at Yamaha's flagship factory in Hamamatsu, Japan, between 1987 and 1989, the UX50Bl was the ultra-premium, flagship model of its generation. 
While the UX30Bl was the upgraded successor to the standard U3, the UX50Bl was the top-tier "grand-equivalent" model, inheriting the most advanced architectural features typically found only on grand pianos
  • Grand Piano-Style Agraffes: The defining difference between the UX50Bl and the UX30Bl is the inclusion of solid brass agraffes in the bass and mid-range sections. These specialized pins secure the strings precisely at their strike points. This configuration prevents any wasted string energy and transmits 100% of the vibration directly into the soundboard, creating a singing sustain and pristine note clarity. 
  • True Sostenuto Pedal System: Unlike standard uprights that use the center pedal for a quiet practice felt strip, the UX50Bl features a true grand piano Sostenuto pedal. It holds open dampers only for the specific keys pressed down when the pedal is struck. A separate manual hand-lever is tucked under the left side of the keyboard to engage the practice mute felt when needed.
  • Massive Radial X-Brace Support Frame: The back of the piano features Yamaha's iconic, heavy-duty X-shaped wooden support posts. This rigid engineering effortlessly balances the 20+ tons of internal string tension, ensuring legendary tuning stability and structural longevity over generations of heavy playing. 
  • Curved Bass Bridge with Extended Strings: Yamaha curved the base bridge at the bottom of the internal iron plate. This allowed them to fit noticeably longer bass strings into the UX50Bl than what is found in a standard U3. The resulting lower-register depth and dark, rumbling bass presence easily outperform many entry-level baby grand pianos. 
  • Advanced Grand-Style Music Desk & Sound Escape Vents: It features an elevated, forward-sitting grand piano-style music rack. Built seamlessly into the split-panel casing behind the music desk are sound escape vents (windows). Instead of sealing the sound within the cabinet, these vents channel acoustic projection directly out to the performer's ears
